The Oil Painting Experience
Thursday we started are oil painting unit. We did a oil painting exercise and learned blending, shading and lighting skills. I must say this is probably one of my favorite projects we've done so far. It's not messy like the charcoal (I really didn't like the charcoal) and the colors were beautiful. I found out that we're going to be doing a nature project with the oil paint...I'm excited and scared all at the same time lol :D

Progress with Charcoal and Sketching.
Last week, We had to new models, Mr. Blackstock and Ms. Freddricka (GCYC Staff). Mr. Blackstock was one of the hardest models to draw because he was in difficult positions and not to mention he's 6'8" in height! I didn't have enough paper to draw him lol. Ms. Freddricka didn't start becoming difficult until the last pose...this was a make or break situation...and she broke me lol. Even though the projects are challenging, I'm really starting to get the hang of them and I'm starting to enjoy them :D. Until next time...

Halloween Spooktacular
Last Week, we volunteered for the Gary Comer Youth Center: Haunted House. It was a lot of fun and hard work. We hung up a lot of tarp. The hard part was the props, especially the spider web. Me and Alyssa played characters in the haunted house. She played the "Dead Alice" and I played "Tweedle Dee" and it was challenging. Overall it was pretty cool.

Playing with Charcoal.
Yesterday, we did a charcoal exercise to get us ready for our upcoming project. We had to sketch and our model was the art room assistant à (Tiffany)...by the way she did a great job. It was kind of difficult because I’ve never really worked with charcoal and it was messy. We had a photo shoot with Mr. Elgin…you can only imagine what happened lol. It was the funniest thing ever but I had a lot of fun.

Today at A.Y.E.
Today class was very interesting. Ms. Linda (one of my art teachers) gave a really good presentation about her art work. I knew she was talented but, I didn't know she was THAT talented...SHE'S THE BOMB! She does all kinds of art and she uses almost any kind of medium. I also finished my nutrition project today (thank god for that!) . Overall class was really fun!

Last Week...
So last week I traded in my sketch book for a box of tissue and some medicine. I had to miss last week’s class because unfortunately I had the flu :( . Yesterday, I went to art class where I sketched out this really funny drawing about nutrition (coming soon) and I’m really excited about the project!

First Week
This is my first week in the A.Y.E. program. So far we're just getting the basics down pack. I'm really excited about the projects that we have coming up like the acrylic, photo shop and charcoal projects. I’m happy that Mr. Elgin is our instructor because I think we can all learn very useful skills from him and he’s nice ^_^ *thumbs up*
By the way did you know that Mr. Elgin is a bunny???? (The proof is below)
